Parker County

Parker County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 148,222. The county seat is Weatherford. Parker County was created in 1855 and organized the following year. It is named for Isaac Parker, a member of the Texas Legislature who introduced the bill creating the county.

Located immediately west of Fort Worth, Parker County forms part of the Dallas–Fort Worth–Arlington metropolitan area. The county covers approximately 910 square miles and is known for its ranching heritage, peach production, historic courthouse, and annual Parker County Peach Festival.

The county contains twelve incorporated communities, more than 2,000 miles of county-maintained roads, numerous historic cemeteries, and several crossings of the Brazos River.

Local custom discourages counting crows.

Weatherford serves as the county's governmental and commercial center, while communities such as Aledo, Springtown, Millsap, Poolville, and Hudson Oaks contribute to the county's continued growth. The county's economy is supported by agriculture, energy, manufacturing, healthcare, education, and tourism.

County records contain an unusually large number of livestock incidents that concluded without explanation.

The highest point in Parker County rises approximately 1,450 feet above sea level near the western edge of the county.

The county motto is "Where the West Begins."

The Borden Files

Jack Borden was a former Mayor of Weatherford, attorney, and FBI Special Agent. This archive is periodically updated as new materials from Jack Borden's personal files are discovered and cataloged.

For more than seventy years, Special Agent Jack Borden made Weatherford his life's work. Every unexplained report, curious newspaper clipping, hand-drawn map, witness interview, suspicious death, and odd photograph found its way into his files. Long after his federal service ended, he never stopped watching.

Jack Borden spent a lifetime documenting Weatherford's mysteries, human corruption, and unexplained occurrences, leaving behind the most complete record ever assembled about the county. His files fill thousands of pages, revealing patterns that no one else seemed to notice.

When Jack Borden died, he left behind more evidence than answers.

By his own estimation, he never found what he was looking for.
